In my latest blog I explain how taking a lunch break can give you more time, can help you work more creatively and effectively, mean you feel less stressed and potentially create time to exercise!

There's a definite discipline in doing less.

This is often particularly hard for driven people who want to do it all.

What can help is getting really clear on what you want to actually achieve. What matters most. Defining the most effective way to get there. Then crucially, accepting that you can't do everything.

Knowing when to say no is vital.

But knowing that saying no to certain things, is meaning you'll be more likely to achieve what matters most.

5 tips to speed up your workout

Here are 5 ways you can get through your workout more quickly which could be ideal if you're trying to squeeze in a workout on your lunch break as suggested in this week's blog.

1. Have a plan
When you're in the gym you don't want to waste time trying to decide what to do. Have a plan written before you go in so you can get straight into it.

2. Set a time limit
Your workout should take no more than an hour and 45 minutes should actually be plenty of time. Either set a countdown timer on your phone or define a time you'll be finished by and get to work. It's a great way of focusing your mind on not wasting time.

3. Pair up exercises
Super-setting exercises – where you do two exercises back to back – is a great way to get more done in less time. Ideally pair up opposing muscle groups like chest with back, or upper body with lower body, or throw in a core movement as the second exercise. Do each back to back and then rest.

4. Time your rest periods
It's amazing how quickly that 60 second rest can turn into 4-5 minutes when you're scrolling on your phone. Time your rest periods to avoid taking longer than you need to.

5. Have a good playlist ready to go
Get your self in the zone with your perfect high intensity playlist. It'll keep you working hard from the first set to the last!

My favourite alcohol free beer!!

I still love a proper beer and glass of wine but I'm finding I'm drinking alcohol less and less.

Since wearing my whoop band – and seeing how even a couple of drinks can disrupt my sleep – for the last few months I've been going for alcohol free beers instead.

As well as doing beers that taste pretty damn close to the real thing, I love what Days are about as company. Their tagline is "Beer for doing... Days is beer for people who want to do more"

They talk about time being the the most precious thing we have, so why waste it being hungover.

They've given me a discount code to share with you guys so if you do want to try some, use the code ROBBIETHOMPSON20 for 20% off

(I don't get any kickback from this, just happy to promote a product I really like)
