How Our Health & Wellbeing Can Help Us Most At The Moment

I believe our health and wellbeing can act as both a springboard and a safety net.

It can give us the platform to be at our absolute best when we need to bring our A-game. And when we are struggling it can provide much needed stability and support.

It's that safety net that many people need most right now.

There are some terrifying and distressing things going on in the world. Watching the news and scrolling on social media can leave you feeling anxious and fearing for the future. And it's very easy to become consumed and overwhelmed by this.

When we think about what anxiety is, in very basic terms it's worrying about what could happen – it's a feeling of lack of control.

Unfortunately we don't know how or when the war in the Ukraine will end – we can't control it. But we can control our own actions. That's where coming back to our daily habits and a sense of routine can be really helpful.

As the John Steinbeck quote says, "There is comfort in routine."

Whether you're feeling anxious about the horrible events in the Ukraine. Or feeling anxious and overwhelmed for other reasons. Our daily routines can provide some predictability in our lives at a time when everything can feel unpredictable and uncertain. Try to lean into this.

Take comfort in knowing that whatever happens today, there are elements of your day that can be on your terms.

Just simple habits like getting out for a walk, taking a lunch break, consistently getting your workouts in, getting to bed at the same time.

Seemingly insignificant actions on their own but when combined and done consistently provide a much needed feeling of control.

Take a minute or two to write down a list of daily health and wellbeing habits you know help you most. Ask yourself honestly whether you've been doing them as consistently as you could be. Then double down on them – schedule them into your diary each day and make them non- negotiables.

Allow your health and wellbeing to be that safety net and provide stability, support and comfort in your life.
