If you’re working towards goals that are important to you, this is a really powerful quote to keep in mind.

Let’s say you’ve had enough of feeling lethargic, stressed and out of shape.

You’ve committed to building habits that improve your energy levels, your health, fitness and quality of life.

You know what a huge impact this is going to have, not just on your life but also on the people around you.

This is what you want MOST.

But from day to day, as you work towards these goals, there will be of course be challenges and temptation.

The glass of wine you want NOW after a horrible day at work.
The takeaway you want NOW rather than the balanced meal.
Staying in bed is what you want NOW rather then getting up and training.

Giving in to these things will bring your immediate gratification. The wine and takeaway will taste really good and hitting snooze and rolling over in bed will feel amazing.

All great in the short-term – but what follows that?

What follows is the annoyance that you gave in to what you wanted in the moment.

Realising that this isn’t helping you or the other people that stand to benefit from the changes you want to make.

Knowing these things wont move you towards your goals and
what you want most.

Remember this next time you’re tempted or challenged by something.

Try to look beyond the short-term gratification.

Ask yourself, much as I want this now, is this really what I want most – is this more important than my goals?

Work on building the habit of delayed gratification.

This is where the magic happens and the real progress is made towards the way you want to look, feel and perform.

When you’re willing to forgo what you want in the moment for what really matters to you.

A short-term sacrifice for long-term wins!

Have a great week!
